The objective of this pilot project is to investigate the use of long term satellite images to develop nationally consistent, interpreted data and information products to support reporting on the NM&EF matters for Target. These include condition and trend products as well as providing baselines and contextual information for regional planning and target processes.

The pilot products investigated include: forest vegetation extent and change over time; riverine forest extent; salinity mapping; wetlands monitoring; and urban pressures. This report details the results obtained and provides recommendations on future work. These products will provide input to the Resource Condition Indicators that comprise the Matters for Target identified by the National Framework for Natural Resource Management Standards and Targets.
