Monitoring and Evaluation Trials: Tasmania Region

Phase 2 Report

Product Information

As the Phase I report detailed, most Tasmanian data sets and monitoring programs were established well before the resource condition targets were developed. Consequently, there are few areas in which the existing data and associated products (potential or actual) completely align with the targets.

The Tasmanian NRM Regions have yet to resolve those areas of data collection that they regard as priorities for investment through their Investment Proposals. Similarly, their “information product” requirements for regional planning purposes have not been fully determined. The Tasmanian Government through the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment has agreed to provide data and information products to support the NRM Regions where relevant to their needs.

There are also a number of current projects funded through the NHT / State Government that will deliver significant progress towards the establishment of baseline data for several of the Matters for Targets. These include inland aquatic ecosystems integrity, soil condition, native vegetation communities' integrity and coastal, estuarine and marine habitat condition and extent.
