Monitoring and Evaluation Trials: Queensland Region
Product Information
This report is a case study into how we measure improvement in resource condition and the effectiveness of NAP / NHTII investment within a region by examining:
- the availability of data at spatial and temporal scales; and
- the relevance and effectiveness of the recommended nationally agreed indicators (MEWG indicators) at the regional scale.
Section One provides a background to the project. The relevant contextual information describing the way forward for assessing natural resource condition
monitoring and investment in Queensland is presented. A brief review of literature on the use of indicators for monitoring resource condition and trend forms part of this section.
Section Two lists data pertinent to two selected case study regions, the Burnett Mary and the Condamine. Additionally, datasets potentially relevant to any regional body in Queensland are listed and summarised as to their adequacy for reporting on the ten matters for target.
Section Three specifically addresses the recommended indicators for resource condition monitoring. The intent and a brief description of the monitoring
methodology to be employed for each indicator is outlined. Methodological issues are addressed and surrogate or alternative methodologies are described.
