Monitoring and Evaluation Trials: New South Wales Region Southern Catchment

The National Land and Water Resources Audit commissioned the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources to trial application of National resource condition indicators at a Regional scale. The geographical area covered by the former Southern Catchment Management Board was selected for the trial extending from the Illawarra to the Shoalhaven on the NSW South Coast.

Three project objectives were specified covering data availability to report on resource condition and effectiveness of investment, testing the relevance of the indicators developed by the National Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group (MEWG) and improving data management systems. This report covers the first two objectives while the third is due for reporting early in 2005
