Invasive Species
The National Land & Water Resources Audit (the Audit) developed the framework for the consistent collection and collation of natural resource data across Australia.
Through the national NRM Monitoring & Evaluation Framework (NM&EF), information on specific natural resource topics -'Matters for target' - have been collected and managed, to report on Australia's natural resource condition. Each matter for target has a set of 'indicators' that will be used to monitor and report on the topic.
Invasive Species
The invasive species topic comprises two themes:
Work plans focus on:
- coordination and national reporting
- an analysis of the national extent, threats and impacts - including the development of a set of state/territory and national datasets, and updating distribution information
- data infrastructure and monitoring-including the identification of national indicators, the methods and fundamental information needs underpinning these indicators, and the establishment/clarification of national information management arrangements.
Sponsor Agencies
Theme sponsors are the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.
National Coordination
National coordination of the invasive species theme is exercised by the Vertebrate Pest Committee (VPC) and the Australian Weeds Committee (AWC).
